One of our own AAHS Band students has distinguished herself by her participation in PMEA Region 1 Band, and her acceptance by audition into PMEA State Band. Marjorie Jarsulic was chosen by audition to perform in PMEA Region 1 Band held on March 7-9 at New Castle High School. The festival culminated with a public concert featuring the ensemble. While at Region Band, Marjorie auditioned for and was accepted into PMEA State Band, whose concert will coincide with the PMEA/NAfME conference that is being held in Pittsburgh’s David L Lawrence Convention Center. The band concert will take place on April 6 at 10 am. Tickets for the event are available at https://www.ticketor.com/pmea.

The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) is a statewide nonprofit organization of over 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The present membership evolved from a small group of band directors dating from 1933. Today, the organization includes those engaged in music instruction at all levels, from preschool through college and university, as well as those in the music industry, merchandising and publishing. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education, NAfME. PMEA District 5 encompasses schools from Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties.
